It has been a rather busy fall and winter around these parts, but I have managed to keep myself on the water regularly enough to cut the edge. It is a rather surreal feeling knowing that in a years time my life aside from my familiy will revolve around the water; I can’t wait. My show season has been very good thus far and a quick round up of what I’ve been up to was in order.
Many of you already know as you had mentioned it in passing as we crossed paths that it looked like Dally’s Streamer Lovefest 2019 was a success. This gathering never disappoints and this year was nothing different. We had water, so the options were bountiful for the streamer crowd making the fishing fun but challenging at times. Mike Schmidt and I shared some water again this year with both Steve and Chad and we turned in a couple of days of good results and cold sore fingers.
The event as usual was such a blast and Matt Grajewski and I finally met in person after conversing over the internet about many things fishing for the better part of a decade. It felt like we were lifelong buddies as I still have headache from all the laughing we did over the entirety of the weekend.
Upon my return it was back to the grind at work only to be followed up by the CFFA expo. This years expo was fun as usual; getting to hang out with fellow tiers Leslie Wrixon, Mark Dysinger and Tommy Baranowski was good, and the presentations that I gave were very well attended. Heck, I even scored a couple of cans of some local craft beer that I had been trying to get my hands on courtesy of Kurt Jagielow. Thanks Kurt, who would’ve known that would happen!
This weekend I am once again on the road, but like last weekend I will not be travelling too far. I hope to see many of my southern Connecticut flyfishing friends at the Compleat Angler where I will be returning this year to do another tying demo. From 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM I will be spinning up some of my smaller streamer patterns that are multi species fish catchers I never leave home without. Heck I might even tie up one you all haven’t seen yet. More details on how to get there on the Events page. Hope to see you there. Off to the Bears Den the following week.
